   BOTOX

The beauty of a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is that it's a simple, 10-minute, non-surgical process. A few tiny injections, and within days there can be a noticeable improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between the brows that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary. And there’s no recovery time. You can even do it on your lunch break.
  • Your doctor will administer several tiny injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic directly into the muscles that cause those moderate to severe frown lines between the brows.
  • Your doctor will determine where to administer the injections by examining your ability to move certain muscles in your brow area. The location, size, and use of the muscles that create a furrowed brow vary markedly among individuals.
  • No anesthesia is required, although your doctor may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief.
  • You can expect to be in and out of the physician’s office without downtime. You may see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows within days. Improvement may continue for as long as a month, and could last up to 4 months.

Frequently Asked Questions from Patients

What is BOTOX Cosmetic®?
Botox Cosmetic® is a treatment for wrinkles caused by repeated movements. The most commonly treated areas include:

  • The lines around the eyes known as crow’s feet caused by squirting or smiling.
  • The horizontal lines across the forehead caused by raising the eyebrows.
  • The lines and folding of skin between the eyebrows caused by frowning.
  • Chin, neck, and elevation of eyebrows.

Is it Safe?
Yes BOTOX® has been available for over 20 years, and has been used to treat many diseases. It is use in children as young as 2 years old to treat cerebral palsy. Children with cerebral palsy receive over 10 times the amounts used for cosmetic purposes – EVERY THREE MONTHS.
If a 2 year old child is safe (with significantly more BOTOX® given to them) – you will be very safe.
Extensive ongoing research and testing increased the safety and effectiveness of the procedure.
To put this all in perspective – the risks and side effects are MUCH LESS than Tylenol.
BOTOX Cosmetic® is an approved prescription drug and is approved by both the FDA in the US, and the Health Protection Branch in Canada.

Will it give me food poisoning / IS it botulism?
Isn’t BOTOX Cosmetic® a toxin / poison?

Botox® is not toxic, nor is it poisonous.
BOTOX Cosmic® is NOT botulism and it will not cause food poisoning. To clarify, Botulism is the name of an illness not the name of the active drug.
The product is a purified protein, which is extracted from naturally occurring bacteria and then rigorously processed under strict pharmaceutical manufacturing guidelines.
It is very similar to how Penicillin comes from mould.
It is an approved drug that is used in VERY TINY doses.

How do I know it won’t be toxic to me?
Typically, for a cosmetic treatment, you may receive less than 100 units.
To make someone remotely sick, you would have to receive OVER 35 times that dose all at one time, which would NEVER happen (plus a dose of that magnitude would be exorbitantly expensive).
You are more likely to “poison” yourself with Tylenol (if you took the whole bottle at once) than to ever remotely hurt yourself with BOTOX Cosmetic®.

How does it work?
BOTOX Cosmetic® works by simply relaxing the muscles underneath the skin to create a smooth and refreshed appearance.

How long does the procedure take?
Generally, after the consultation, the procedure only takes about 15 minutes. Since there is no downtime – you can do it on your lunchtime – and no one would know that you have had it done.

How quickly does it work?
It can take UP TO 2 WEEKS for it to take full effect. Usually we ask patients to wait for 14 days to pass before a full assessing of the results can be obtained.

How is it done?
It is injected with a very tiny needle – one much smaller than those used to take your blood etc. A delicate insulin-type needle is used.

Does it hurt?
Most patients say the injections feel similar to a little pinch. We usually hear patients say, “Is that all?”

How long does BOTOX Cosmetic® last? Is it Permanent?
BOTOX Cosmetic® is not permanent; it lasts between 3-6 months on average, however everyone is different.
If you follow the physician’s or the clinical professional directions and have your first 3 treatments promptly every 3 months, you will find that:

  • The next treatment lasts 4 months
  • The following treatment lasts 5 months
  • And the one after that lasts 6 months

Patients who stay on his prompt treatment schedule can stabilize their treatments to twice per year.

Is it going to be worse when it wears off?
Your face will never get worse if you stop using BOTOX Cosmetic® or when it wears off.
BOTOX Cosmetic® merely “stops/slows” aging.
When you stop getting treatments, the “aging clock” resumes like normal.
At the very minimum, after a period of time, you will simply return to where you started.
After a patient uses BOTOX Cosmetic® and then stops – their muscles learn to relax and therefore, they will end up looking better than when they started.

How much does it cost?
The cost of treatment varies by patient; a personal consultation will provide a specific amount.
I don’t want to look like a mask without expression – will that happen?
We ensure that you get the look you want – as natural as you want.
Most people simply want to look NATURAL, RELAXED, and REFRESHED, without looking “done”.
In the experienced hands of our staff of clinical professionals – patients typically say that no one notices that they have had anything done. Friends and colleagues simply say that they look well rested and as if they have been to a spa.

What about our experience?
We have treated thousands of patients with excellent outcomes, and as such can guarantee that you will:

  • Be very satisfied with your treatment results
  • Have longer lasting results
  • Find our rates are very competitive
  • Be satisfied with our high level of professional service.

What are the side effects?
Side effects are RARE and are NOT PERMANENT.
Rarely, there can be some minor bruising (which is easily covered up with makeup) or a slight short-term headache.

I have heard that you can get a drooping eyelid – is this true?
Again, side effects are RARE and are NOT PERMANENT and this can include a drooping eyelid. The incidence of side effects is less than 1%, and when they occur lasts for only a few days. Most patients do not experience any side effects at all.

Where does it go in my body?
BOTOX Cosmetics® stays local to the muscle where it was injected.
After the injection, BOTOX Cosmetics® is simply metabolized & broken down into natural byproducts within a few hours.

I am pregnant / am currently breast feeding. Can I get BOTOX Cosmetics®?
It is recommended that mothers who are breast-feeding wait until they are finished breast-feeding before having any BOTOX Cosmetics® injected.
Although there is no clinical evidence to suggest that harm to the mother or baby may occur, we recommend refraining from any cosmetic injectable procedure while breastfeeding.

   HYPERHIDROSIS

The Facts About Excessive Sweating

Hyperhidrosis is a disorder that defines individuals who sweat more than the body would normally need to maintain optimal temperature.

Hyperhidrosis affects approximately 3% of the population – some 950,000 Canadians.

It has been previously disregarded as a natural body reaction that most sufferers learn to live with and compensate for in lifestyle, but it has also been shown to seriously affect quality of life. Many sufferers must be conscious of their sweating when making decisions about daily activities. Sweating hands, underarms, feet or face can give the wrong impression in business and personal situations. It can have an emotional, social, and physical impact on sufferers.

What Causes Hyperhidrosis?
There are two types of hyperhidrosis.

Focal Hyperhidrosis: also known as primary hyperhidrosis, had an unknown cause. This type of hyperhidrosis is localized to one or more of the following areas:

  • Underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis)
  • Hands (palmar hyperhidrosis)
  • Feet (plantar hyperhidrosis)
  • Face (facial hyperhidrosis)

Although this type of hyperhidrosis has an unknown cause, the way it affects sufferers appears to be related to over-activity of the central nervous system (stress, etc.), thereby causing an overactive stimulation of local sweat glands.

Intended Results

  • Results lasts 9 months – 1 year.

Note: We only treat the underarm condition.

Generalized Hyperhidrosis: also know as secondary hyperhidrosis is actually caused by another underlying condition (e.g. endocrine disorder, menopause, obesity, nerve damage, and rarely, some types of drugs). This type of hyperhidrosis generally occurs over the whole body and is usually treated by addressing the underlying condition.
Note: Dr. Tadros will be able to properly diagnose any underlying condition.

For Clients
What you should bring when you see the physician

Similar to any other medical consultation, you should bring your provincial health card and your private insurance plan information if you have one. The doctor will need a background of your medical history to help determine the treatment that’s best for you.

Treatment Options

There are several ways to treat hyperhidrosis. Some of which are covered by medical plans.
Our clinic only uses the BOTOX® injection method.

BOTOX Injections

BOTOX® injections are appropriate for moderate to severe hyperhidrosis sufferers.

Injection with BOTOX® interrupts the signal from the nerve to the sweat gland to reduce sweating in the area that is affected. The injection is done with a very fine needle and, for treatment of the underarms, face and head, an anesthesia is often not required as the procedure is virtually painless.

A clinical study found a reduction in sweating of 83% in 95% of participants. The effect of treatment can be immediate or take up to a week, with the average duration of effect after a single treatment being 9 months – 1 year, with 30% of patients have effects lasting longer that a year. Your sweating will gradually return, and your comfort will dictate when you should repeat treatment.

Side effects, if they occur, are temporary. A rare reported side effect that may be perceived is increased sweating in other areas. Other side effects may include pain at the site of the injection.

   SONO PEEL (UNTRASONIC MICRODERMABRASION)

Procedure Description

  • The precision hand-piece delivers ultrasonic energy to the skin. The gentle cavitation action of the ultrasound removes the dead outer later of the skin while bringing the smoother, softer under-layer of skin to the surface.
  • This action works equally effectively on all colours of skin.
  • The Sono Peel helps “peel” away many signs of aging, sun damage, acne scarring and pigment abnormalities.

Who is a Candidate?

  • Individuals with all skin types who desire improvement in fine lines, wrinkles and textural irregularities of the skin.
  • Individuals who have sunspots, sun-damaged skin, aging skin, oily skin with enlarged pores and acne scarring.

Recuperation and Healing

  • Most patients acquire smoother skin without experiencing redness or flaking. Some find their skin may be light pink (flushed). However, this fades within a few hours.
  • The skin feels soft and even. Patients may experience slight flaking or tightness within 24-28 hours of treatment. This is easily controlled with the post-peel kit that is provided.
  • Patients can usually reapply makeup and return to work, recreation, etc., immediately after treatment.
  • Depending on the patient’s skin type and condition, it may take 4-12 treatments to achieve optimum results.

Who is NOT a Candidate

  • Individuals with cancerous skin tumors, or are currently using Accutane, and have certain inflammatory conditions of the skin.
  • Those whose skin is too sensitive for crystal peels.

Other Options

  • Chemical peels or laser peels.

Surgical Fee Range

  • Upon consultation with physician or medical cosmetic specialist.
